CANCELED

Logistics and supply chain have been anointed as a blockchain technology’s low hanging fruit. Between 2014 to 2017, market generated tremendous hype around blockchain use cases especially in logistics and supply chain. Hence, 2018 and beyond must be about “we’ve heard enough about blockchain, let’s build networks and applications.”

Attend this workshop to:

  • Refresh our knowledge about blockchain fundamentals.
  • Discuss improvements and enhancements in current processes and innovative business models made possible by blockchain.
  • Discuss high level framework and models to implement blockchain as proof of concept.

Agenda

1.    Setting the stage
Welcome from hosts, participant introductions, align participant expectations and objectives of the workshop.

2.    Blockchain fundamentals
Describe in high level four key components of blockchain, overview on private vs permissioned blockchains and smart contracts.

3.    Use of blockchain in enhancing current processes
Discuss potential use cases including risk management and audits, transparency, horizontal (asset sharing, transparency) and vertical collaboration (life science, asset serialization, provenance), proof of existence/authenticity/attestation of documents.

4.    Innovative use cases and business models
Discuss new business models such as asset tokenization, micro-rewards and payments, data monetization, alliances (sharing drivers, tractors, warehouse space) and use cases such as sovereign identity and reputation, stable tokens.

5.    Framework to implement blockchain as proof of concept
Discuss a framework including finding a blockchain champion/evangelist, internal discussions and brainstorming to find a workflow that can be improved with blockchain, mapping the work flow and finding blind spots, return on investment discussions.

6.    Implementation models and guidelines
If the answer for “do we need blockchain” is “yes”, then discuss different deployment models depending on vertical and horizontal collaboration. Discuss private, public, and hybrid models, raising and solving governance issues, and more.
